私たちが誇りに思う日本の象徴、富士山。しかし、その美しい景観には見えない問題が存在しています。それは、登山者や観光客が残すゴミの問題です。特に問題となっているのが、尿が入ったペットボトルのポイ捨てです。その現状を解決すべく、2019年5月に始まった「ふじさんゼロゴミアクション」プロジェクトが活動を展開しています。
今年もこの問題に取り組む一環として、8月6日（日）から20日(日)にかけて、「ふじさんゼロゴミアクションユーモアイラスト展」を開催します。開催場所は、富士山の北麓に位置する道の駅なるさわです。
このイラスト展は、環境マンガ家である本田亮さんの力を借り、富士山のゴミ問題と、特にしょんボトル（尿入りペットボトル）のポイ捨て問題について、一般の方々に広く知ってもらうことを目指しています。本田さんが描くユーモラスなイラストを通じて、我々の直面する深刻な問題について考え、そしてその解決に向けて一緒に行動を起こすきっかけを作りたいと思います。
「ふじさんゼロゴミアクション」は、富士山ガイドや地元エコツアー事業者14団体とNPOが中心となり、「いつもきれいな富士山で楽しんでもらいたい」という思いから生まれたプロジェクトです。彼らは富士山周辺で定期的に清掃活動を行い、私たちが愛する富士山の美しい環境を保つための活動を続けています。
しかし、清掃活動を行ってもゴミはすぐにまた捨てられ、ゴミの問題は続いています。この状況を変え、将来的に富士山からゴミがゼロになる環境作りを目指しています。そのためには、私たち一人ひとりが自分の行動を見つめ直し、ゴミを適切に処理する習慣を持つことが大切です。

環境マンガ家本田亮さんのご紹介
多才な才能を持つ本田亮は、環境マンガ家、カヌーイスト、クリエーティブディレクターとして知られています。彼の社会貢献活動としてのイラスト創作は1990年に始まり、自身のアートを用いて環境問題の啓蒙に努めてきました。
2020年には彼のテーマは持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）に拡がりました。本田のSDGsユーモアイラスト展は青山アートスクエアを皮切りに、大阪のカップヌードルミュージアムや横浜の高島屋など、多くの場所で展示されています。
彼の近著、「ムズカシそうなSDGsのことがひと目でやさしくわかる本」（小学館刊）は、一見複雑そうなSDGsをわかりやすく解説しており、多くの読者に対してアクセス可能な形で提示しています。また、日本赤十字社のために制作したコロナウィルス対応動画は250万回以上のアクセスを達成し、その影響力とリーチの広さを示しています。
クリエーティブな活動に加えて、本田は2020年のノーベル平和賞受賞団体である国連世界食糧計画（WFP）協会の理事も務めています。彼のアート作品を通じた貢献と奉仕活動は、環境保全と持続可能な発展の議論において、彼を引き立てる要素となっています。

Mount Fuji Zero Waste Action: Rethinking Waste Issues Through Humorous Illustrations!
Mount Fuji, the iconic symbol of Japan that we take pride in, is facing an unseen problem – littering by climbers and tourists. One of the most prevalent issues is the inappropriate disposal of plastic bottles filled with urine. In response to this problem, the “Mount Fuji Zero Waste Action” project, initiated in May 2019, has been actively working towards a solution.
As part of their ongoing efforts, the “Mount Fuji Zero Waste Action Humorous Illustration Exhibition” will be held from Sunday, August 6th to Sunday, August 20th. The venue for this event is the roadside station Narusawa, located at the foot of Mount Fuji.
The exhibition, in collaboration with environmental manga artist Ryo Honda, aims to raise public awareness of the waste problem on Mount Fuji, specifically focusing on the issue of discarding plastic bottles filled with urine, commonly referred to as “pee bottles.” Through Honda’s humorous illustrations, we hope to encourage reflection on the serious issue we face and initiate action towards resolving it.
The “Mount Fuji Zero Waste Action” project, driven by Mount Fuji guides, local eco-tour operators, 14 organizations, and NGOs, was born from the desire for visitors to always enjoy a clean Mount Fuji. These groups regularly conduct cleanup activities around Mount Fuji, striving to preserve the beautiful environment we all love.
However, despite these cleanup activities, the littering problem persists. The goal is to change this and create an environment where Mount Fuji becomes waste-free. To achieve this, it is essential for each of us to reconsider our actions and adopt habits of disposing of waste appropriately.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to visit the “Mount Fuji Zero Waste Action Humorous Illustration Exhibition” and confront the waste problem on Mount Fuji. Let’s join forces to protect our precious Mount Fuji.

Introduction to Environmental Manga Artist, Ryo Honda
The multitalented Ryo Honda is known as an environmental manga artist, canoeist, and creative director. His illustrative contributions to societal causes began in 1990, using his art to enlighten others about environmental issues.
In 2020, his focus expanded to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Honda’s humorous SDGs Illustration Exhibitions have been held at many locations, beginning with the Aoyama Art Square and including venues such as the Cup Noodle Museum in Osaka and the Takashimaya department store in Yokohama.
His recent publication, ‘A Book that Makes the Seemingly Difficult SDGs Easy to Understand at a Glance’ (Shogakukan), takes the seemingly complex SDGs and breaks them down in a way that is accessible to many readers. Furthermore, a coronavirus response video he produced for the Japanese Red Cross Society has garnered over 2.5 million views, demonstrating the wide reach and impact of his work.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Honda serves as a board member for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) Association, the recipient of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. His contributions and service through his artwork amplify his stance in discussions of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
