まず、このトートバッグの特徴的な材料についてお話しします。このバッグの主要素材は「Glass rain」です。ビニール傘から再生されたこの素材は、ビニール傘を解体し、洗浄したビニール部分を何層にも重ねて圧着したもの。特に処理せずにそのまま使用することで、一つ一つ微妙に異なる風合いを持つ、一点ものの素材感を作り出します。

Mondo Design Corporation, founded and jointly developed by creator Aki, has launched an upcycled brand “PLASTICITY”, repurposing discarded vinyl umbrellas. From June 22nd (Thursday), they have started selling their ‘Standard Tote Bag’, which is crafted from their unique material, ‘GLASS RAIN’, made from discarded vinyl umbrellas, and apple leather made from wasted apples, at their online store.

Firstly, let’s talk about the bag’s unique material. The main component of this tote bag is ‘Glass Rain’. It’s a material regenerated from vinyl umbrellas, created by layering and heat-pressing the washed vinyl sections of deconstructed umbrellas. By utilizing the material in its original form, each bag possesses a subtly distinct texture, making every item unique.
The Second Life of Discarded Apples: Apple Leather
Apple leather, a plant-based material made from discarded apples, is used for the handle and bottom part of the bag. The use of this material gives the bag both durability and a sense of style.
